What the studio is doing right now.

Last updated 27 May 2026

This is a /now page — a snapshot of what's actually getting attention this month, instead of pretending the founder's bio is current. Refreshed when the answer meaningfully changes.

Building

  • Verge — final polish ahead of the 1 July 2026 beta. Currently: tightening the contextual-baseline math, expanding the beta signup form, and writing the tester guide.
  • Trader's Risk Workbook — finalising the Monte-Carlo drawdown simulator and the pre-mortem worksheet for the top 5 failure modes.
  • The Calm Money Workspace — eight Notion databases wired together, currently writing the monthly-rollover automation.
  • Two new live calculators on /tools shipped this week: position sizing + UK house affordability.

Reading

  • Skin in the Game · Nassim Taleb

Rereading. Worth it every few years.

  • Wanting · Luke Burgis

    On mimetic desire. Sharp.

  • The Mom Test · Rob Fitzpatrick

Re-reading before the beta tester interviews start in July.

Thinking about

  • Whether the Studio's newsletter should be paid-tier from launch or stay free-only. Honest answer: free-only. Earning trust before earning money.
  • Why financial-literacy content is so bad in the UK specifically. The US has Money Stuff and Morningstar. We have Martin Lewis and... what else?
  • Building a 'pre-flight' breathing exercise into Verge — three minutes before opening the platform. Tested it on myself for two weeks; works.

Deliberately not doing

  • Investor calls — bootstrapped, not raising, not interested
  • Trading other people's money — never again
  • Twitter threads — the studio's writing lives at /journal, not in 12-tweet chains
  • Building anything that requires being on call after 9pm

For the deeper version of the studio, read the about page. For the writing, the journal. For what's shipping, projects.
